Shackleton and Scott tour

FOLLOW IN the footsteps of the Antarctic explorers (not to mention Charlie Bird) with a Scott and Shackleton Centenary Voyage aboard the five-star MV Orion.

The 21-day voyage begins in New Zealand before crossing into the Antarctic Circle to reach the Ross Sea Area on day nine, and there are also shore-side expeditions. After five full days cruising the Ross Sea region, the Orionheads northwards towards the subantarctic Campbell Island and the Snares Islands. Around 100 passengers on board will be looked after by a crew of 75 with 24-hour room service.

The cost: £12,590 per person sharing, not including flights.

A killer of a weekend

Darver Castle, Ardee, Co Louth, is hosting “A Knight of Murder” by Murder Mysteries Ireland on Saturday May 7th.

The dinner show starts with guest detectives being greeted with a glass of bubbly, followed by a four-course meal with wine as a “murder” is played out in the banqueting hall.
