ONE IN two Irish adults intends to take a holiday or short break at home over the next 12 months, according to the most recent research from Fáilte Ireland.
The news comes as the tourism authority joined forces with Iarnród Éireann to launch its autumn home holiday marketing campaign at Heuston Station in Dublin yesterday.
Speaking about the campaign, Fáilte Ireland’s John Concannon emphasised the success of its 2010 home holiday drive, the biggest to date, with many Irish people forgoing a foreign holiday this year.
The autumn promotional drive will target the off-season traveller who is looking for good value deals, with many of the 200 featured hotels and venues offering vouchers for spa treatments or complimentary meals and wine.
Over one million brochures will be circulated in newspapers this weekend to stimulate bookings for the autumn and winter period.
