Dog books ticket home
A dog that ran 600km away from home booked himself a flight back by alerting a travel agency to his plight. Pepper, a golden retriever, somehow travelled from his base in Atlanta, Georgia, to St Petersburg in Florida. Apparently tired of travelling, he sat outside a travel agency looking forlorn until staff took pity on him. A veterinarian then found an implanted microchip on the dog with information on the owners. Pepper is now safely home in Atlanta.
Swift ferry eases off
Rising fuel costs have forced Irish Ferries to reduce the number of daily sailings on its Jonathan Swift service between Dublin and Holyhead from two round trips a day to one. The revised schedule will take effect on November 3rd, although there will be some additional sailings during the Christmas period.
West comes knocking
Aer Arann, Ireland's regional airline, has relaunched its daily return flights from Ireland West Airport Knock to Dublin. The subsidised service will offer an early-morning flight to Dublin with an evening return.
