Ballyhoura rambling:Deebert House Hotel, in association with Ballyhoura Bears Walking Club, is hosting a walking weekend from Friday. There'll be a selection of guided walks on Saturday and Sunday to suit all abilities, and a night walk is planned for Saturday. Two nights' BB and one dinner, with two walks, costs €175 per person sharing. If you don't stay at the hotel, the walks cost €10- €20 each, depending on the grade. All prices include bus transfers. Deer watch: Wicklow Mountains National Park has organised a deer watch in Glendalough today. Telescopes will be set up between 11am and 4pm, and guides will be on hand to discuss the deer and their ecology. Getting there will involve an unescorted hike along a waymarked route. Directions from the information centre at Glendalough. Booking is not required; proper boots and raingear are recommended. Suitable for all ages.
Wicklow walking festival:Footfalls Wicklow Walking festival, which runs from October 23rd to 26th, based at Brockagh Resource Centre near Laragh, will offer a wide choice of guided walks, including three night hikes.
