Biking Blitz, Ticknock:New MTB (mountain bike) trails are being launched at Ticknock forest tomorrow (Sunday 8th) by Dublin Mountains Partnership in association with Coillte.
Races for U8 to U16s start at 10am. Baggy shorts, super pro and racer heads races start from noon. Fee: U8 to U16 free, others €20 each. U8 and U10 can register on the day, others should pre-register, but registration will be open on the day.

Dawn Chorus Day
Sunday, May 15th is Dawn Chorus Day, and Wicklow Mountains National Park welcomes the staff of Birdwatch Ireland to host this walk. Participants should meet at the Information Office by the Upper Lake, Glendalough at 5.30am. The event is free, adults and children welcome, no dogs. The Upper Lake car park has a €4 charge. Booking is not necessary. There is an optional birdsong workshop in the Education Centre after the walk. Tel: 0404-45425.
Alternatively, you could posh it up and join the Longueville House dawn chorus walks on May 14th and 15th with professional bird guide Michael Cobley. Longueville House has introduced an evening chorus walk on May 14th at 7pm. The Sunday walk starts at 4am. Moonlight walk
The Ritz-Carlton, Powerscourt in association with Walkabout Wicklow is hosting a moonlight walk next Saturday, May 14th. Walkers will meet at the hotel at 7pm and then drive to Cloon Wood for the walk to the summit of Prince William’s Seat.
The walk is suitable for beginners to intermediate level and participants should be properly equipped. The walk will be followed by food, beverages and live music in McGill’s Irish Pub. The cost is €29 per person.
