BRITTANY FERRIES is offering 15 per cent off holidays booked before the end of the month for travel this summer.
Travel to France starts at around €70pp one way based on a car with four passengers in a four-berth cabin, with prices increasing during peak weeks. Holidays start at under €200 per person. For €216 each, you get a five-night stay in a campsite in Benodet in Brittany, a town that is linked to the chic resort of St Marine with its long sandy beach and lively cafe scene.
Further up the price scale are hotel and villa holidays stretching all the way down through France which can be booked on an all-in basis. For regulars, the holiday begins on-board.
The trick is to follow the French who know exactly what side of the deck to take the sun on, and the right moment to queue for the buffet. If you don’t get it right, you’ll shiver in the shade or spend most of the evening waiting in line for dinner. (A tip: go for the grills and salads rather than more elaborate French cooking). The French have it down to a tee: sun, supper, a half bottle of wine and a game of cards before bed.
