CORK CRAFT
The first ever Cork craft month is launched today, with more than 200 craft makers hosting fairs, exhibitions and workshops. Events include a craft trail, as well as exhibitions at Blarney Castle, Ballymaloe, Cork City Gaol and the Granary in Kinsale, with close to 50 individual events taking place across the county. www.corkartdesign.com
LARTIGUE MONORAIL
Designed by a Frenchman in the 19th century, a one kilometre track of this mono rail (pictured) has been restored for visitors. The site also houses a museum as well as models and memorabilia from the original line, which ran between Listowel and Ballybunion. TOUR AND EXHIBITION
Every Wednesday, a garden tour is held at Airfield House, in Dundrum, Dublin, with head gardener Emer O’Reilly at 2pm.
From this Thursday, Abode – an exhibition of new work by artists Cathy Hayes (Homesick, pictured) and Jennifer Cunningham – opens and runs until September. (Monday to Sunday, 10am-5pm) www.airfield.ie
BONDI THEATRE
Set in Australia, Bondi Beach Boy Blue (pictured) is a moving play about a Kilkenny hurling hero battling for his love and his life. SWINFORD FESTIVAL
