Alison, a contract analyst at Icon, and Mark, a landscape architect, have known each other since they were junior infants at St Patrick’s Junior School in Skerries.
“We never really had a first date, but the first place we went together was to see Red Hot Chili Peppers headline Slane in 2003,” says the groom.
In December 2013, they were celebrating Mark’s birthday at Powerscourt Spa and Hotel when he presented Alison with a necklace engraved with ‘Will you marry me?’. The next day they chose a ring together from Delphi Antiques in Dublin’s Powerscourt Centre.
On May 29th this year, Mark and Alison were joined by 85 close friends and family members – including their grandmothers Lena Lennon, Sadie Garrett and Moira Schlindwein – when they married in a ceremony at the Stephen’s Green Hibernian Club in Dublin.
Frank Nally and Caroline Lennon Nally are the parents of the groom and Alison’s parents are Michael and Martha Garrett.
The bride, whose dress was from vintagebride.ie – created her bejewelled bouquet with her aunt Deirdre and her bridesmaid was Paula Villa Martinez.
The groomsmen were Eoghan Mulligan, Joe Glennon, and John Gavin, who played guitar and sang during the ceremony.
Everyone then went into St Stephen’s Green for photos, then walked up to the Odeon on Harcourt Street, where a further 100 people joined them for celebrations, with music by The Hitman Trio.
Mark and Alison's first dance was to Wish You Were Here, by Pink Floyd. They honeymooned in Mexico.
