Elaine (33), a business development manager from Ballyhack, Co Wexford, moved to Australia in 2008 and two years later met Peter (33), an engineer from Hertfordshire, in a bar in Perth.
They were engaged in May 2013 and planned their Irish wedding from Australia. Three months before the wedding, their daughter Scarlett-Rose arrived.
“It was a very emotional homecoming in both Ireland and England, ” says Peter, “as she’s the first grandchild in both families and neither had met her until they were all in Ireland.”
On July 3rd, 2015, they were married at Our Lady, Star of the Sea Church in Duncannon, Co Wexford – with music by Dearbhail Finnegan – and had a reception for 72 guests afterwards at Waterford Castle.
Elaine’s Samantha Wynne dress was bought in Perth. Maid of honour was Fiona Drought and bridesmaids were Michelle Drought and Jane Drought. Elaine’s other sister Fiona, a chef, made the cake.
Peter wore Irish Tricolour cufflinks and, to balance things out, he and his best men Adam Cleland and Tom Batchelor sported Union Jack socks.
A highlight of the night was the Irish dancing performance from Celtic Dance Fusion.
The couple spent a few weeks travelling through Northern Ireland and the UK with Scarlett-Rose before their return to Perth.
