Sarah Griffith, from Dublin, and Dan Smithwick, from Kilkenny, met on the first day of their graduate training programme at KPMG, in November 2007.

Dan chose his birthday, February 16th 2014, as the day to propose to Sarah in Inistioge, Co Kilkenny, by the River Nore.

They were married on March 14th, 2015, by Sarah’s uncle, Fr Charlie Davy, at St Brendan’s church in Clodiagh. Sarah wore her mother Bernie’s veil and a dress from Caroline Atelier. Dan’s tails were made by Moss Bros in London.

During the ceremony, the Sarah's sister's boyfriend, Shaun Henegan, sang Perhaps Love by John Denver. Dan's cousin, Janet Harbison, played a piece she had composed on the harp as the register was signed.

The best man was Dan’s cousin John-Henry Wicks, and the bridesmaids were Sarah’s sisters Sandra and Alice Griffith, and Dan’s sisters Emma and Georgie Smithwick. Derrick Carberry was the make-up artist and flowers were from Flowers by Lucy and Lamber De Bie.

Afterwards, 160 guests gathered at Mount Juliet, where the band, Spring Break (secured a year in advance) were on stage bringing everyone back to the 1980s.

The newlyweds’ mothers played special roles. Sarah’s made the wedding favours – a pot of marmalade for everyone, labelled “Spread the Love”. And after attending a Sugarcraft for Beginners class, Ellie Smithwick made 160 cupcakes and the top tier of the wedding cake – delicious chocolate-biscuit cake.

The couple, who are thrilled to have moved back to Dublin from London after three years, honeymooned in Thailand.
