The residents of Oakley Road in Ranelagh will be interested to see that Number 23, a pretty villa-style house, is back on the market having been sold to a property developer two years ago for £690,000. The two-storey house, which originally stood on half an acre of garden, is now being sold minus a site at the end of the property which will probably be developed with two or three townhouses. Initially, the developer had hoped to build an entire scheme of houses in the grounds but the plan was turned down last year.

The house is keeping a garden of about 85 ft, as well as a separate studio building of around 800 sq ft.

It will be auctioned by Gunne on May 11th. Selling agent Peter Kenny is indicating a price of around £600,000. The 3,000 sq ft house has been given a fresh coat of paint, but essentially it is in the same condition as when it last sold, that is, needing complete refurbishment.

It has six rooms at hall level and six rooms downstairs. The hall floor rooms, several of which are long and narrow, all have stripped timber floors and original features such as shuttered windows, decorative cornicing and fireplaces.
