Situated on one of the most abundant salmon rivers in Western Europe, the River Moy in Co Mayo, Coolcronan Salmon Fishery is for sale by private treaty for £600,000 (€761,843).
Primarily a bait and spinning fishery, Coolcronan has 12 main pools on more than a mile of double bank and is situated just over three miles from Foxford, six miles from Ballina and 20 miles from Knock International Airport.
Selling agent Jackson-Stops says salmon fisheries that come on the market are of "enormous interest to the ever-increasing band of salmon anglers throughout these islands."
It is likely that the fishery, which is currently owned by a Jersey-based trust, may sell to either an individual or a syndicate.
Coolcronan's 12 main pools have a two-year average of 285 salmon. To prevent overcrowding, rods are limited to 12 per day and a rota system ensures anglers get to visit each of the pools, the most popular of which is the shallow water Rock Pool on the left bank, which is teeming with fish.
The season runs from February 1st to September 30th and spring fish average 10-12 lbs. The catch record is estimated to be in excess of 300 salmon per season, with a high rod to fish ratio.
There are new parking facilities park close to the river bank at the Cable pool.
