Silvermere, Killiney Heath
Silvermere, a large four-bedroom house backing on to Killiney golf course at Killiney Heath, is expected to fetch more than £800,000 at auction through Gunne on July 28th. Developed in the early 1980s, Killiney Heath is an exclusive enclave of about 40 houses off Killiney Avenue. There is good communal space that is nicely landscaped and maintained. Silvermere has about a third of an acre of landscaped garden and parking for several cars.
A fairly modest house from the outside, it has a superb interior of around 5,000 sq. ft, with very good space for entertaining and a few surprises, such as a heated swimming-pool and a big snooker room.
The current owners bought Silvermere six years ago and remodelled it completely, creating a bright, open-plan layout that is complemented by bold colours throughout. They are now moving to Kilkenny, hence the sale.
With its red-tiled roof and balconies, the house looks a little bit like a villa in Portugal, where the owners frequently holiday. A flight of terracotta tiled steps leads up to the double fronted door.
