This traditional Tuscan home by Claudia Pelizzari Interior Design lets the owner’s artwork do all the talking. The work of Brooklyn-based CWB Architects has an art deco feel that is reflected in the choice of art. The geometry-inspired gouache and graphite on paper works are by Melissa Dadourian and the way they are hung in a group reinforces their mathematical motif. New York-based art placement and installation company Ilevel has suspended paintings from the ceiling using wire and Arakawa hanging systems to keep the works level. The picture is suspended from two points using one wire that loops from the ceiling on one side through the picture hooks on the back to the top ceiling on the other side. A European expat with many family heirlooms, Lucie Ayres Ayers of Los Angeles-based interiors agency 22 Interiors believes that the most chic spaces are those with unexpected elements. Part of the charm of southern California's charm is the unexpected, especially in architecture, and her goal was to bring that specific charm and character to this garage conversion. Decorator Jeffrey Bilhuber, whose clients include Anna Wintour and Law and Order’s Mariska Hargitay commissions artwork for specific spots. The art may not necessarily end up framed and on walls but rather forms an integral part of the interior, such as the trompe l’oeil gold and platinum leaf by Nancy Lorenz LeWren in the bay window of this property. Róisín Lafferty of Kingston Lafferty Design styled this shoot for DFS featuring its Sofia sofa in a Georgian house on Henrietta Street, Dublin 1. The bare plaster walls and decorative coving somehow manage to create a contemporary setting. A gilt-framed oil and a 19th-century print bookend a contemporary piece by West of Ireland-based Lola Donoghue: all are wire-hung from the plasterwork.
