AUCTION RESULTS:
Sunday (April 3rd) Hegarty's Auctioneers, Bandon, Co Cork. 13 volumes of the 1841 Ordnance Survey of Ireland, Cork & Waterford maps, printed in 1846. Mounted in leather cases with gilt crest and name of Lord Doneraile (of Doneraile Court, north Cork) and used by him on his regular hunting trips. €8,200 (€4,000-€6,000).

Tuesday (April 5th) Adams Blackrock, Main Street, Blackrock, Co Dublin. A bronze panel entitled Bloomsday by the late Irish sculptor James McKenna €2,000 (€2,000-€3,000).

Wednesday (April 6th) Adam's, St Stephen's Green, Dublin. "A Distinguished Ulster Collection". Some 78 per cent of lots sold. The Israelites Attacking the Amalekites (above) (oil-on-marble panel) attributed to Antonio Tempesta €28,000 (€15,000-€20,000); a set of 17 Irish Regency framed mahogany chairs €19,000 (€15,000-€20,000); oil-on-panel A Wooded Landscape with Figures on a Path, a Lake Behind by James Arthur O'Connor €16,000 (€15,000-€20,000); an 18th century Milanese neo-classical inlaid walnut and marquetry commode reputedly from Westport House, €14, 000 (€15,000-€20,000); Portrait of a Boy, Seated Three-Quarter Length in a Park, a Dog Beside Him" (pictured below) by John Russell €8, 500 (€10,000-€15,000); a bronze group Returning from Market, a Cossack Woman and Child riding a Horse with a Foal by Evgeni Alexandrovich Lanceray €6,200 (€4,000-€6,000); bronze of a stallion by Pierre Jules Mene €3,000 (€3,000-€5,000); A View of the Shipyard at Ringsend' (watercolour) by John Henry Campbell €2, 600 (€3,000-€5,000); Harbour of Howth, and arrival of His Majesty George IV: 12th August 1821 (watercolour) by John Henry Campbell €1,400 (€1,000-€1,500).

Among lots that failed to sell were: a Still Life of Vegetables, oil-on-canvas by an unknown artist, probably Spanish 18th century (€15,000-€20,000); and a George IV silver-gilt baby's rattle, whistle and teether (€500-€800).
