The auction season has wound down for the summer at Adam's of St Stephen's Green but the saleroom is still open and currently hosting an exhibition and sale of new paintings by the Dublin artist Oisín Roche. The selling exhibition is on view from Monday to Friday from 10am-5pm until June 25th. This is the first solo show by the Dún Laoghaire artist in three years and features 34 paintings; a mix of portraits, still lifes and Dublin streetscapes. Most are priced in the €2,000-€3,000 range
although the top lot, Portrait of John Waters, Author and Journalist, a large oil-on-canvas that was in the BP Portrait Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London in 2008, is €7,500.
Roche is an accomplished portrait painter and his commissions have included a portrait of the former taoiseach Liam Cosgrave. David Britton of Adam's described Roche (b 1973) as "a very underrated painter" and a name to watch.
