No. WI 1264 sold for €25, 250 (€10,000-€15,000); Lot 256, a restored vintage 1920 Ford Model T 4-seater Tourer – Black, open side with folding roof and oak spoke wheels €10,600 (€12,000-€16,000).
Wednesday (July 12th) Purcell Auctioneers, Green Street, Birr, Co Offaly. A vintage Lister Stationary Engine €1,000 (€1,000-€2,000); a 1970's Gold Flake (cigarettes) advertising hanging light-box €420 (€150-€200); a Georgian mahogany two-tier dumb waiter €380 (€150-€250). A Chinese warrior's jade burial suit, estimated at €2,000-€4,000, failed to sell.

Tuesday (July 11th) Sotheby's, London. Literature Auction. Lot 22, an "exceptional collection of printed ephemera relating to the 1916 Rising salvaged by the British officer (Lt Donald Keith Cooper) in command at Liberty Hall", estimated at £15,000-£20,000 (€17k-€22.7k), failed to sell; Lot 23, Lt Cooper's souvenir copy of the "exceptionally rare half-sheet of the Irish Proclamation" £6,875 (£6,000-£8,000).
Thursday (July 13th) Christie's, London. The Collection of Raine, Countess Spencer. The top price was achieved for Lot 180, an 18ct gold, ruby and diamond parure by Van Cleef & Arpels that made £221,000 (£100,000-£150,000) [see pic]. Among other highlights: Lot 10, a Louis XVI ormolu mantel clock £32,500 (£25,000-£40,000); Lot 30; a Louis XVI commode £56,250 (£60,000-£90,000); Lot 119, a Royal Worcester table-service commissioned for Claridge's hotel £5,000 (£800-£1,200). Among the clothes and accessories: Lot 276, a collection of 11 scarves by Hermès £3,500 (£1,000-£1,500); Lot 288 is two Lady Dior handbags, by Christian Dior £1,750 (£ 1,000- £1,500); Lot 308, a set of three nesting hat boxes by Louis Vuitton £3,000 (£ 700- £1,000).

Thursday (July 20th) Dix Noonan Webb, London. Auction of Orders, Decorations, Medals and Militaria. A Zulu War medal awarded to Dublin-born Corporal James Bushe after the defence of Rorke's Drift is estimated at £40,000-£50,000. Last year, a similar medal awarded to Cork-born Michael Minehan (or Minihan) sold for £84,000.
