Lot 256 is “a princess cut diamond art deco-inspired ring, set at centre and surrounded by a halo of round brilliant cut diamonds mounted in platinum”, estimated at €3,000-€4,000 and described as “a similar, smaller version of Pippa Middleton’s art-deco inspired ring”. British newspapers last month reported on the engagement of Pippa Middleton (sister of Kate, Duchess of Cambridge) to a hedge-fund manager who, apparently, gave her an art-deco engagement ring featuring an Asscher cut diamond surrounded by round brilliant cut diamonds and set in the shape of an octagon, estimated to have cost £200,000.
