YOURSPACE:THE KITCHEN of 5 Elmwood Avenue Lower (see page 4) is a bright contemporary space that fits seamlessly with the rest of the open-plan living area downstairs.

The cream kitchen from Houseworks (01 6769511) is a Siematic SC10 Kitchen in Cashmere Matt Laminate with Baltic Green solid granite worktops with Neff appliances.

It comes with a dust seal on all the units and an adjustable interior tracking system for shelves and pullouts.

This range of kitchen is still available and a similar-sized kitchen would cost around €23,000.

It being a relatively small space, they wanted everything integrated and the room to flow from the open-plan livingroom.

They chose this Siematic kitchen because it has lots of deep drawer space to put saucepans and large objects. The frosted glass wall cupboard holds lots of plates and crockery.

The original brickwork in the kitchen was black but the current owners painted it in a mix that’s similar to Farrow Ball’s Pointing. The solid oak floor came from Victorian Salvage and Joinery Company (01 6727000).

These floorboards run through the house and everyone told them they were mad to put them in the kitchen because of wear and tear.

They stuck to their guns however because they didn’t want to break the flow of the open-plan livingroom/kitchen and figured they could get them sanded if they got too battered.
