Since I was a child, I have adored the great outdoors. Working and living in the city always meant that going for great big country walks was a spiritual and physical breather for me. I do work out in the gym, but I find being outside is so much more relaxing. Being in nature does wonders for my brain, which never stops (I work for myself) so now walking outside is a weekly ritual for me, and one that I have instilled in my own family.
My folks have a gorgeous chocolate Labrador called Ben, so myself and my children love to borrow him and take on the Riverwalk in Powerscourt together on the weekends. It’s not too far from where I live, so just a quick trip in the car and we’re there together, come rain or shine. There’s nothing quite like that beautiful setting to clear my mind. I have a special obsession with the sea so I do favour walks on a beach or by the waves. I love to walk Killiney Hill, where the coastal views are so spectacular. Once I have been outside and have given myself the time to move and reconnect, I’m ready to take on the city again.
