Tried and tested: Six products I can't live without

There are some products that Aisling just keeps coming back to

1Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II €86

When I first used this not-quite-serum, I fell hard. If I don’t have it on, I notice the difference.

It seems to strengthen and calm skin, and other skincare sits perfectly on top of it.

On my Instagram account (instagram.com/ aismcdermott), I often share my experiences of the products I am testing and give bite-sized reviews. I had to stop including this in shots in order to keep the line-up from going stale, but I use it every day and have gone through countless bottles.

3Elemis Nourishing Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil €41.50

I love cleansing oil because it’s easy, quick and dissolves make-up while leaving skin soft. This Elemis cleanser is my latest love. It is composed of more than 90 per cent pure oils and is suitable for any skin type, even oily. Rub it into dry skin, emulsify with water until it becomes milky, and wash off. The bottle is big (195ml), so it’s very good value for money on a cost-per-use basis.

5Skinceuticals Resveratrol BE Serum €140

No exaggerating here: I have tried hundreds of serums. This serum – and most other Skinceuticals skincare – usually gets drained to the last drop. It glides on wonderfully, moisturises well and has a great mix of ingredients to strengthen and improve your skin.

4Ren Flash Rinse facial €42

I recommend this wonder to everyone. I am on my third tube of it. In life as well as skincare, I prefer everything to be quick and easy and to bring instant results. Well, who doesn’t? This green paste exfoliates and gets rid of dead skin cells. Put it on cleansed, dry skin and then wet your fingers to moisten it and activate the vitamin C. Sixty seconds later: better skin.

6Sunday Riley Juno Hydroactive Cellular Oil £70 on cultbeauty.co.uk

Facial oil is a must for me. I am always wary of overhyped products, but Sunday Riley Oils are very good. This one smells a little like that liquefied lettuce in the bottom drawer of the fridge, but it is jam-packed with so many beneficial seed oils and is so good that I can overlook that. This particular blend is anti-inflammatory and will help to regulate oily skin. Just keep it for night-time use because it is quite greasy.

2Avène Hydrance Optimale Rich €21.99

I’m very promiscuous when it comes to moisturisers and prefer anything with a dense consistency. However, I try out so much skincare that sometimes I have a reaction – or red-nose-and-cheeks syndrome, as I call it. When this happens I turn to something soothing and free from skin irritants. Avene products are a godsend; I always keep some of their skincare on hand to calm down my narky skin.
