A Spanish student has died and two people have been seriously injured following a road crash on the outskirts of Waterford city.
The incident happened at about 2.20pm on Saturday on the L1020 Old Tramore Road at Ballycoardra. It is understood the car in which the three people were travelling hit a tree.
The Spanish student, aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. It is understood he was a back seat passenger in the car. His body was removed from the scene and a postmortem was due to take place.
The driver of the vehicle and a second passenger, both men aged in their 20s, were brought to University Hospital Waterford to be treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Investigators carried out a technical examination of the scene and the road later since reopened.
Gardaí appealed to anyone who witnessed the crash, or those with camera or dashcam footage who were in the area between 2pm and 2.45pm, to come forward.
