A teenage boy is in a serious condition in hospital tonight after an apparent fall from an escooter in Co Donegal.
Shortly after 4.45pm, emergency services rushed to the scene at a local road at Linsfort close to Buncrana where the 13-year-old was found “unresponsive after an apparent fall” according to garda headquarters.
The boy was treated at the scene before being transported by ambulance to Letterkenny University Hospital. His condition is understood to be serious.
Gardaí said in a statement that the scene has been preserved for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. The road remains closed and local diversions are in place.

The results of the technical examination will assist investigating Gardaí in determining the cause of the incident.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dashcam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

Meanwhile, a pedestrian in his 80s has died following a collision with a car in Co Roscommon.
Shortly after 6.00pm Gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision which occurred on the R377 on the outskirts of Castlerea.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators and the local Coroner has been notified.
Gardaí in a statement said that the motorist did not require immediate medical treatment.
The road remains closed with local diversions in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this collision to come forward.
So far this year, 12 people have lost their lives on the nation’s roads, with the latest death bringing to four the number of pedestrians who have been fatally injured.
