Marks & Spencer has a range of wines under the Found label, all wines made from lesser-known grape varieties that are often grown in unusual places too. Most are well worth trying out. I have written about some before, and feature two more today.
This week we have the Dimyat grape, unique to Bulgaria. It is the second most widely planted white grape, and this wine comes from vineyards along the Black Sea.
Marzemino is a little more familiar to me, as it is quite commonly grown in north-eastern Italy. The wines tend to be light- to medium-bodied with lively fruit and light alcohol. The grape makes an appearance in Don Giovanni when the lead calls out, “Versa il vino! Eccellente marzemino!”which translates as, “Pour the wine! The excellent marzemino!”

This is a very attractive light-bodied wine with fresh peaches and good acidity. Perfect summer drinking with or without food. It would go very nicely with salads and light seafood.

M&S Found Marzemino 2024 IGP Veneto
11.5%, €11.75
A juicy, light refreshing red wine with light tannins. I would try this with all sorts of Italian charcuterie and light tomato-based pasta dishes.
