What is it?

Naked Bakes Salted Double Chocolate Chip Brookie Dough (€5.25/300g).

Who makes it? Aisling Tuck got the inspiration to start a vegan food business when she was living in Australia. She started out with Oh Happy Treats, which makes vegan baked goods for cafes and shops, and has now added Naked Bakes, which is a range of ready-to-bake vegan cookie dough and brookies (a cookie/brownie hybrid). They are made at her vegan bakery in Tallaght, Dublin.

What’s good about it?

For a vegan cookie made with vegan butter, which Tuck says is composed of coconut oil, shea butter and cacao butter, the cookies taste really “buttery”. The quality of the chocolate used is excellent, too, and Tuck sources it from The Luxury Confectionery Company in Mallow, Co Cork.

How do I it use it?

It comes in a cylindrical package, ready to cook. The instructions say to cut the log into four or six slices, and roll the slices into balls before baking. I tried baking them in both an airfryer and a conventional oven, and the brownie-like consistency of the brookies was much better from the oven. The dough can be stored in a fridge for up to four weeks, and can be frozen for up to three months.

Where can I get it?

The cookie dough is available in some branches of SuperValu, having been included in the supermarket group’s 2023 Food Academy programme, and also online from nakedbakesireland.com. The online shop sells 600g rolls of dough and the cost for a minimum order of two rolls (24 large cookies) is €20 including delivery.

Anything else?

As well as the double chocolate chip brookie dough, the range includes classic chocolate chip cookie dough and a peanut butter version.
