GORILLAZ
Feel Good Inc Parlophone
*****

The biggest cartoon band since Kiss are back with a new album, Demon Days. Damon Albarn brings his Mali music along this time, while guests De La Soul add some cheeky old-skool MC moves. But the groovetastic bassline is the clincher.

THE CORAL

After the bad acid trip that was Nightfreak and the Sons of Becker, Liverpool's likeliest la's go back to their jolly, Merseybeat roots. Perhaps The Coral are overcompensating: this is so chirpy it could be Gerry & The Pacemakers.

THE STANDS
Do It Like You Like Echo
****

More retro pop from the 'Pool, courtesy of this hotly-fancied four-piece who condense early Stones, Beatles, Animals and High Numbers records into one swinging rock chestnut. All we need now is a new Zutons tune and we're in Mersey paradise.

THE URGES
(Around &) Around Again Reverberation Records
***

Dubliners can be mods too - although they'd have to ride their Vespas to Bray and do battle with singer-songwriters. These guys do such an authentic-sounding '60s pastiche, they should star in Quadrophenia - The Revenge.

TRICK DADDY
Sugar (Gimme Some) ft Ludacris, Lil' Kim & Cee-Lo Atlantic
****

The Miami vice lord will need a root canal after Lil Kim pours some sugar on him. This honey-dripping r'n'b tune is based on an early Talking Heads song, Sugar on My Tongue, and it's bound to cause a few sticky sheets.

THE GAME
Hate It or Love It ft 50 Cent Aftermath/ Interscope/G Unit
**

The biggest rivals on the block have called a truce, and Compton breathes a collective sigh of relief (or is that a yawn?). Game and 50 share their gangsta growing pains, but you wait: they'll be dissing each other again by June.

ROB THOMAS
Lonely No More Atlantic
**

After his guest vocal spot with Santana, the Matchbox 20 singer is ready to make the smooth transition into solo stardom and steal a few girls off Enrique and Justin. Something's missing, though - a cracking guitar solo.
