Culture Night has rolled around again, giving folks in 22 cities and towns across Ireland the opportunity to get their synapses firing.
From 5pm to 11pm tonight, various free events will be held around the country, including, as always, a large number of musical gatherings. In Dublin, many city-centre churches, including St Patrick’s Cathedral, Whitefriar Street Church and Peppercanister Church, are staging choir performances and recitals. The Irish Music Rights Organisation is hosting an evening of music and public interviews at Copyright House, where guests will include Fight Like Apes, CODES, Thomas Walsh and James Vincent McMorrow.
At the National Concert Hall, people of all ages are invited to participate in Bamboo Jam, an hour-long workshop, as well as (ticketed) recitals by the RTÉ NSO.
The Chester Beatty Library, the Contemporary Music Centre and the Royal Irish Academy of Music will also host entertainment, and Gospel on the Quay will take place at the Dublin City Council offices on Wood Quay.
A record number of acts have signed on for Culture Night Cork, including Adrian Crowley, who will play a “secret” gig in the city centre. culturenight.ie
