Genre: Electronic
Label: Big Dada

Roseau is the capital of the Caribbean island of Dominica – a nod to London producer and singer Kerry Leatham’s roots.

Her debut album has a much different set of geographical steerings than the tropics in mind, concentrating on the hazy, sultry space between the notes to create emotionally charged electronic soundbeds.

Leatham's own voice is a plaintive, honeyed instrument which colours these stories about everyday urban life and toil, moving from absorbing ambient sketches like the title track to the warm melancholia of Kids and Drunks which clearly has its heart – and synths – set in the 1980s.

The lyrics are introspective and somewhat oblique, but it’s clear Leatham has the ability and agility to do more in this department in time.
