Robyn Rihanna Fenty isn’t even in her mid-20s, but already the Barbadian singer and songwriter (she also lists philanthropist, author and actress as other career areas) has nabbed so many chart positions and awards it’s pointless listing them.

What’s worth mentioning, however, is Rihanna’s independent status in the star wars. Like Beyoncé, Britney and Lady Gaga, Rihanna ably stakes her claim as a (sometimes too sexually dramatic) role model; unlike the others, however, she engages with what seems to be a natural ability for pithy, semi- autobiographical songs. Result? Stronger empathy, tighter bonds, more credibility.

Don’t worry if you haven’t a ticket for this gig – the queen of r’n’b/pop/dancehall is also playing this venue on September 30th and October 1st, and Dublin’s O2 on October 3rd and November 25th.
