Following the success of the first HeftFest all-day gig marathon in May, organiser Simon Dowling of indie club night Hefty Horse, has announced plans for HeftFest #2, which will take place in Upstairs at Whelan’s on Saturday, October 1st, running from 2.30pm to 2.30am, and will cost punters just €5 to see 11 bands.

Headlining is Minnesotan singer-songwriter David Dondero, who has released albums on Conor Oberst’s Team Love label and who was named one of the “best living songwriters” by NPR in 2006.

The Irish indie community will be well represented, too, with acts including Crayonsmith, I Heart the Monster Hero, The Hollows, Magic Pockets and Big Monster Love.

“There was such a good response to the first HeftFest that we decided to do it again,” said Dowling. “There was a consistent crowd throughout the whole day, everything ran smoothly and on time, and there was a really nice atmosphere. We’ve had David Dondero play before and he’s an absolutely fantastic musician. We managed to convince The Hollows to reform, a band who played many a Hefty Horse gig a couple years back, as did Elsworth Cambs – so it’s like going back in time for us in a way, too.” www.tiny.cc/heftfest2
