After their successful curation of a stage at Flat Lake festival earlier this year, Dublin-based arts collective Nighthawks are planning another foray into event organisation. A one-off show in aid of Oxfam will be held at Dublin’s Project Arts Centre (The Space Upstairs) on October 30th.
Performers on the night are drawn from the music, comedy, poetry and theatre worlds: Thomas Walsh (right) of Pugwash and The Duckworth Lewis Method leads the fray, and he will be joined by musicians Fiach and Enda Reilly. There will also be music and poetry from Trevor Browne and Totally Wired; a stand-up routine by comedian Damian Clark; and short comic play, Should've Gone to Lourdes. “Oxfam Ireland really need all the help they can get – especially now with the problems in Pakistan – and this event should raise a couple of thousand euro for them,” said Nighthawks founder Stephen Kennedy.
The independent collective also host regular gig nights at the Cobalt Cafe on North Great George’s Street. The next one takes place on September 25th, and features an eclectic list of performers, including Sweet Jane, Windings and flautist Elizabeth Petcu.
