The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra's exciting new conductor, Alan Buribayev (above), is back in town offering an all-Russian programme of Prokofiev (the spicy Love for Three Oranges Suite), Glazunov (the romantic Violin Concerto with Ilya Gringolts), and wraps the evening up with the exotic narrative of Rimsky-Korsakov's Sheherazade.

Dublin's Crash Ensemble gets out of the capital with a touring programme (Jacob Ter Veldhuis, John Godfrey, Osvaldo Golijov, John Zorn, Gerald Barry, and Donnacha Dennehy). And the enterprising NewSoundWorlds series at the NCH will present a screening of Mauricio Kagel's film Ludwig Van, written for the Beethoven bicentenary in 1970, and full of the most extraordinary musical and visual montages.
