It’s clear to see that the Hamburg producer has brought much of the dark, throbbing intensity which propels her DJ sets to bear on this debut album.
From the get-go, Discreet Desires sees Hauff working her machines to move many bodies with a heavyweight slew of tough, thumping, bleepy electro and industrial techno.
While it’s very much music made with dark spaces in mind, there’s a playful spin to what Hauff is doing, which colours the experimentation of some of the tracks in fascinating ways.
Between the spooky, paranoid menace created on Sworn To Secrecy II, the edgy, sultry, primal mood of Spur and the epic goth-tech magnetism of Piece of Pleasure, Hauff's work hums with intent and provocative purpose.
A hugely inventive record which indicates that there’s much more to come in time from Hauff.
