RTÉ’s Big Music Week runs from next Monday to Sunday, October 15th to 21st.
The schedule incorporates a series of live concerts hosted by RTÉ Radio 1, including a Beatles tribute concert with Thomas Walsh of Pugwash, Jerry Fish, Henry McCullough, The Henry Girls and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. Indeed, the RTÉCO has a busy week ahead as it forms the basis of many of the Big Music Week’s events, including a movie soundtrack-themed concert at Dublin’s Helix theatre, hosted by Ardal O’Hanlon, a gig with Jack L as he previews his 27 Club show, and a headline concert of Beethoven’s and Verdi’s music on Friday night, broadcast live from the National Concert Hall on Lyric FM.
Arts show Arena will follow pop duo Nanu Nanu’s attempts to record their EP over the course of a day in RTÉ’s studios. There will also be various special programmes on 2FM, Lyric FM and RnaG. Although most events are radio-based, there will also be music programming on RTÉ1 and RTÉ2.
