Dublin’s Workman’s Club has been celebrating its first birthday with a number of gigs and special events over the past week, but the festivities will culminate with a free all-day gig on Sunday.
Ghost Estates, House of Dolls, Overhead the Albatross, White Collar Boy, Hellfire Cub and Late City Edition will play back-to-back sets from 5.30pm until late.
The venue opened last September, hosting numerous high-profile gigs, exhibitions and more. “If you’re going to open a new venue during a recession, it should be a venue where everyone involved appreciates how lucky they are to have the support of the customers coming through the door,” booker Karl Geraghty said. “So a hello from the doorman, a reasonably priced pint or a smile from the bartender is more important now then the polished chrome and fancy hand-driers that seemed to take precedence for much of the last decade.” www.theworkmansclub.com
