MUSIC NEWS:Europe's biggest showcase festival EuroSonic takes place next week, and this year a spotlight is being shone on Ireland.

Twenty-one of our finest acts, including James Vincent McMorrow, Cashier No 9 and God is an Astronaut travel to the Dutch city of Groningen to ply their wares to industry honchos, as well as Belfast band LaFaro, despite singer Jonny Black’s newly-broken leg.

Fans will be able to keep tabs on their progress courtesy of 2FM, as Dave Fanning, Jenny Huston and Dan Hegarty will broadcast live from the festival on Thursday and Friday from 8pm to 1am. 2FM will also be hosting live warm-up sessions from 8pm on Monday and Tuesday night.

And of course, our man in Groningen, Jim Carroll, will be reporting daily via his blog, with a full coverage to follow in The Ticket on January 20th.
