A mammoth launch for Gateways Festival will take place across multiple venues in Dublin tonight.
The festival itself will take place at Glendalough House in Wicklow on September 9th and 10th. Last year was its inaugural year, although it has been in planning since 2005.
Organisers managed to corral a line-up of more than 60 Irish bands and artists in just six weeks, but this year there will be a purpose-built permanent site with the intention of creating a music, arts and local crafts event that will run annually for “generations to come”.
Entry is granted by invitation, which will be available to attendees when they register at gatewaysfestival.ie.
Tonight’s launch bash is free to attend and will see many of the acts due to appear at this year’s festival play across four venues in the Dame Lane vicinity. Sweeney’s, The Globe, Rí-Rá and Shebeen Chic will host sets by Preston Reed, Noise Machine, Hassle Merchants, Daithí, Sleep Thieves and DJ OB. A barbecue, street performer and drinks promotions, are also promised.
