This is a departure for Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill, driving force with Skara Brae, The Bothy Band, Relativity and Nightnoise, not to mention soul sister of Maighread and the late Micheál Ó Domhnaill, with whom she has excavated some of the most sublime sibling harmonies.

The Key's Withinis a deeply meditative collection of instrumental keyboard pieces, (with minimal vocal embellishments), composed by Tríona in honour of those who have sustained her through a life steeped in music. Some of the pieces, like Johnny's, whisper of fleeting glimpses caught in passing, cry out for further development, while others such as Staccatoare delightful snapshots of a musician revelling at that crossroads where traditions entwine with the loose-limbed ease of improvisation.

At times, however, the collection's intimacy may leave the general listener struggling to find a foothold.
