Olly Murs,Epic, **

It would be too easy to make a cheap "Murs Murders" pun. Besides, the debut album of last year's X Factorrunner-up isn't really that bad. The worst that can be said about Olly Mursis that it's entirely predictable and often derivative. Change Is Gonna Comerecalls Robbie Williams's cover of George Michael's Freedom, while Please Don't Let Me Goand Thinking of Meutilise the breezy calypso skit that Lily Allen first employed back in 2007. Elsewhere, there's the usual clutch of conventional, beat-filled ballads, sentimental love songs and even a horrible attempt at soul/gospel-pop ( Love Shine Down). Murder? Not quite, but unless there's an upward turn towards originality, we could have a career casualty on our hands.
