Instrumental post-rock has gained a new lease of life in recent years, but it’s not often that an Irish band is internationally acclaimed before their first album is even released. Having completed sell-out tours in Japan and elsewhere, Wicklow’s Enemies are in prime position to build on their early success, so it’s just as well that they’ve crafted a stellar full-length introduction.

We’ve Been Talking

is a thrilling excursion into the genre that tightens the nuts first spun on last year’s debut EP. Proving that not every song needs to be a slow-building epic to be effective, the foursome pack melody, groove and quirky experiments with tumbling tempos into short bursts of finely crafted noise that’s as jagged as it is balmy. Move over, ASIWYFA, Redneck Manifesto, et al – you’ve got new Enemies. See myspace.com/enemies theband
