The latest instalment in the UFC Undisputed series is about as close as you are going to get to mixed-martial arts without actually stepping into the Octagon yourself. And if you value your body parts as they are – ie unbruised and attached – which is probably most of us. The game has been tweaked to make it a better playing experience, with controls that cater for your own particular preference (amateur vs pro grappler) and an improved career mode. And the ultimate result is that the games feels a lot more polished, without losing its edge. This time out, THQ has added two new weight classes, so you can fight at feather and bantam weight. Changes such as improved submissions, the ability to fight until the ref pulls you away, and the beating your stamina takes over time make Undisputed 3 more realistic than previous efforts. Title Defence mode returns, as does Ultimate Fights. But one of the best additions is Pride mode, which gives you a glimpse of what it would have been like to fight in the league, complete with its own rules. A must for MMA fans.
