When you're 10 years of age, Roald Dahl's The Twits is hilarious, with the main eponymous characters serving as a note of caution to children who may be displaying some not-so-charming habits.

When you’re in your 30s, Mr and Mrs Twit are pretty disgusting human beings who shouldn’t be allowed to own a pet, let alone enough of them to contemplate opening a circus. They play nasty tricks on each other, from wormy spaghetti to convincing each other they’re shrinking. Their standards of personal hygiene are laughable and their manners are non-existent.

But that doesn’t stop you from enjoying them.

Twit or Miss takes the characters and drops them into a mobile game of their own. It's very simple. You have to make sure Mrs Twit isn't woken by Mr Twit as he's eating. Sounds simple, but for Mr Twit, eating involves spraying chunks of food, which are fired across the table towards his sleeping wife.

To stay in the game, you have to flick the food away. Let’s just say she hasn’t got the nicest temperament, although I imagine that I’d be less than tolerant if I was being showered in someone else’s disgusting food. Each time you hit her, she gradually wakes up until she’s fully conscious, red-faced and angry as hell, and swats him with her walking stick.

Clearing each round without letting the food land on her means that your score multiplier goes up; for every time she’s hit, it decreases.

Some food has special properties, for example green food is sticky, some morsels explode when you tap them and you can use fish bones as spears to earn more points.

You’ll have a number of objectives to complete too, which will further increase your score. You might have to hit Mr Twit a certain number of times in the eye, or his beard. You can get fancy too and go for rebounds and triple rebounds, wracking up the points as you go.

Visually, it looks similar to the book, with the artwork based on Quentin Blake’s original illustrations. It’s a nice touch that will appeal to the nostalgia in Roald Dahl’s older fans.

Twit or Miss is a fun trip down memory lane.
