The hit TV show has been a hit videogame for some time, but the latest episode is a worthy addition. The new downloadable content deals with the first 400 days of the zombie outbreak, with a whole new set of characters to get to know and guide through the post-apocalyptic world.

400 Days bridges a gap between seasons one and two of the game. There are five different characters, each with their own story to play through, and choices that influence how the game progresses.

Although the characters are new, fans of the series will find a lot to like here. The stories begin at different points in the outbreak and you can play them in the order you choose, but they are all linked in some way, even if it’s just catching a glimpse of a character here and there.

Because there are a number of characters to play and only a limited amount time to play through them, you don't get to grips with the people in the same way that you did with season one. However, it's not necessarily a bad thing, as Walking Dead characters – both in the TV show and the games – rarely have a happy ending.

And even though you don’t get to bond with them quite as well as Clementine and Lee, TellTale has done a good job of giving you just enough so you actually care about what happens to the new faces. Every action could have a disastrous impact, and that is at the forefront of your mind every time you have to make a choice.

400 Days is shorter than its predecessor, but some great writing and enough tension and suspense to stretch your nerves mean that it's well worth a look. Add in the bargain price and you won't regret making the investment. A nice appetiser for the next season. telltalegames.com
