GAME REVIEW:3 cert, Nintendo, Wii (also DS) ***
You can't help but love the classics. Tetrisis 25 and still going strong, and the latest release should bring even more fans to the game. Tetris Party Deluxeretains the addictive nature of the original and adds new twists to keep it fresh. There are now more than 20 modes, for a start, and online battles and multiplayer options have been added.
As a longtime Tetrisfan, I found it strange playing this on a Wii instead of a handheld console. But it's something you rapidly get used to, as you take on one of the reworked modes. You can create your own puzzles or go online to take on up to three other players in World Battle mode. Other modes allow you to match shapes to silhouettes, show off your mastery of Tetrisskills or use bombs to clear lines. You can also track your progress with in-game statistics and achievement rankings. Hopelessly addictive, despite the retro feel.
