APP OF THE WEEK:Paper Glider Christmas.
4 cert, Neon Play Limited, iPad (also iPhone, iPod Touch) ***
A very simple, very compulsive little free game,
Paper Glideris simplicity itself. Guide a paper airplane through the sky, from left of the screen to the right, moderating its trajectory by tapping the screen to give it a "boost". Let it swing too low and it'll crash; glide too high and, Icarus-style, it'll exit the screen and make an unceremonious crack. This time around, it's been given a seasonal makeover, as your plane glides over snow-caked buildings, snowmen, fir trees and Christmas decorations. The giant paper airplane is dragging Santa's sled over houses, as gifts tumble from his sled to the people below. This is a gently appealing app, a simple, addictive little time-waster. So what if Santa is really led by reindeer and not a giant paper plane? At least it plays a variation of
We Wish You a Merry Christmason a loop. (It should also be noted that you can mute the game should you wish.)
