4 cert, EA, iPad****
The console version is a few weeks old, but EA has now brought its high-speed racing game to the iPad. So how does it fare? The trick is not to try to compare it with the console version, because as good as it is, it will inevitably come off looking like less of a game.

Need for Speed Shiftbefore it,
Hot Pursuiton the iPad plays to the device's strengths. It allows you to steer by shifting the screen, while acceleration is automatic. You play as the police, with no option to be the pursued in career mode, which has 24 missions, with players starting out as rookie cops before working up the ranks with each bust, collecting bounty along the way. The addition of online multiplayer play, rather than just local wireless play, would have made this a better game, but as iPad racing games go, this is a pretty good effort.
