Weaving and Bay clash Colts over Transformers

With all this grim news in the papers, it’s nice to have something to laugh about. Few stories have provided so much hilarity in recent weeks as the spat between Hugo Weaving (unnerving actor) and Michael Bay (bombastic director). In a recent interview, Weaving made a few weary comments about his experiences doing voicework on Bay’s deafening Transformers movies.

“My link to that and to Michael Bay is so minimal,” he said. “I have never met him. I was never on set. I’ve seen his face on Skype. I know nothing about him, really. I just went in and did it. I never read the script. I just have my lines, and I don’t know what they mean.”

Mr Bay does not take this sort of insolence lightly. Shortly after Megan Fox, star of the first two Transformers flicks, complained about his behaviour on set – comparing him to a certain moustachioed German dictator of the last century – she was replaced by the conspicuously untalented underwear model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Referencing the Weaving remarks, Bay said: “Do you ever get sick of actors that make $15 million a picture, or even $200,000 for voiceover work that took a brisk one hour and 43 minutes to complete, and then complain about their jobs?”

Actually, that isn’t such a ludicrous rhetorical question. Hang on! What am I saying? It’s Michael Bay. Boo! Boo!
