Short film Oscar for George

Terry George has been musing on his success at the Oscars last Sunday

Terry George has been musing on his success at the Oscars last Sunday. George, raised in Belfast, had been nominated twice before. But his victory in the short film category for The Shorerattled his bones.

“When we came down off the stage we were greeted by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie,” he said.

“There were a lot of hugs and kisses and then Michael Douglas came over, too. There was a wee bit of a celebrity celebration going on.”

To catch The Shoreon the big screen, check out the Love Irish Cinema session at Dublin's Screen Cinema on March 14th. The bill of short films also includes Pentecost, another of this year's nominees.
