REEL NEWS:Here's a strange one. It seems somebody has decided that only Northern Irishmen should direct Thor films. Brian Kirk, the Armagh-born film-maker, has been asked to helm the sequel to Kenneth Branagh's enjoyable mythological romp. Mr Branagh was, of course, raised in Belfast.

Kirk made his feature debut with the underrated Middletown, but one assumes it is his work on lavish TV series such as
