The Kerry Film Festival has begun its race across that Kingdom. Now in Tralee before moving to Listowel, Kenmare and Waterville, the event will tomorrow present its Maureen O’Hara Award – aimed at women who excel in film – to the ever-busy Saoirse Ronan.

There’s an inflatable cinema outside the Brandon Hotel. And, of course, hundreds of short films will be screened.
